Here we go: Outlook for CMS Berlin 2025
This year's event at the Berlin Exhibition Grounds is the biggest, most diverse and most international CMS Berlin yet.
CMS Berlin has never been this big. More than 440 exhibitors from 30 countries will present their products and services across six exhibition halls and the outdoor grounds. Spanning 34,000 square metres, the leading trade fair for cleaning, hygiene and facility management will showcase solutions that will make building cleaning more efficient and sustainable.
A breath of fresh air and proven giants
Trade visitors to CMS Berlin can expect to see industry leaders such as Diversey, Dr. Schnell, Ecolab, HAKO, Kärcher, Johannes Kiehl, Tana-Chemie and Tork/Essity Professional. The trade fair is also an important event for wholesale companies such as igepa (Hall 6.2), Topserv (Hall 1.2) and GVS (Hall 4.2). Many exhibitors have increased their floor space, including Wetrok from Zurich in Hall 5.2 and Tennant in Hall 1.2. The Swiss company is showcasing high-tech machines alongside the matching chemicals. Vileda Professional and Vermop are exhibiting together in Hall 4.2. This collaboration demonstrates how concentrated expertise can set new standards in professional cleaning. Where better to establish and expand reliable partnerships than CMS Berlin?
Marketplace for innovations
One of the new exhibitors is Oxy-gen from Dubai (Hall 3.2, 141). The United Arab Emirates company operates its air treatment systems with hydrogen-powered fuel cells, which improves reliability. Comac, an Italian company (Hall 3.2, 143) is participating for the first time with its cleaning machines. KTV Working Drone (Hall 2.2, 118) from Norway is travelling to the fair with an autonomous cleaning drone. Thanks to the company's proprietary sensor technology, the drones can clean facades, roofs and solar panels safely and reliably.
This demonstrates that the cleaning industry has long been high-tech. This innovative strength is reflected in both the 78 product premieres presented at CMS Berlin 2025 and the supporting programme. On two stages, renowned speakers will share their insights on debates concerning new technologies, sustainability and occupational safety. How can cleaning processes and facility management be digitised? How can social media be used for successful recruitment? And how do sustainable cleaning products help people and nature?
A quick look at Hall 5.2 shows just how innovative the industry is. Young German companies from the cleaning industry are showcasing their solutions to a keen trade audience at the Young Innovators stand. The stand is sponsored by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Energy.
The Purus Innovation Award (PIA) jury will also honour innovations today at 5:30 p.m. in the Marshall House. The award is presented in the following categories: cleaning machines; robotics/AI; equipment; washroom hygiene; digital tools and systems; and cleaning agents. CMS Innovation Tours will visit the stands of the nominated exhibitors twice a day on each day of the trade fair. Here, trade visitors can witness this progress first-hand.
CMS Practice Forum: Learning from professionals
Wolfgang Molitor, the managing director and chairman of the board of Federal Guild Association of the Building Cleaning Trade, will open the CMS Practice Forum at 11 a.m. today, kicking off an exciting programme. Representatives of the cleaning industry will be able to deepen their knowledge of topics such as the shortage of skilled workers, robotics, digitalisation and DIN standards in expert talks throughout the four days of the trade fair, as well as having the opportunity to network.
Each day has a different theme. Today, the topic of sustainability will be discussed. This refers not only to the industry's ecological footprint. It also concerns future viability in terms of human resources. At 12:30 p.m., Wolfgang Molitor will discuss the concept of a joint social partnership with Maya Migaud from the Federal Ministry of Labour and Social Affairs. The aim is to make cleaning industry professions more attractive and sustainable. Presentations by Jan Kowalewski from Zukunftsperspektive Bau and Dr Patrick Casper from the Cleaning Technology Institute will demonstrate how technical tools can promote sustainability. At 2 p.m., there will be a panel discussion where guild representatives will share their experiences.
The programme on Wednesday, 24 September 2025, will focus on digitalisation. How can AI support skilled trades and building cleaning? What advantages do digital tools offer? How safe are autonomous cleaning machines? These questions and more will be answered by experts in their presentations. The highlight of the day will be the 2:30 p.m. panel discussion on digital communication in facility management. Dr Peter Hug, Managing Director of VDMA, will discuss how robotics and AI can increase efficiency alongside founders and CEOs. On Wednesday, there will also be information on hospital cleaning and hygiene, including DIN 13063, which will be covered in more detail in Friday's programme.
A clean affair
Thursday is all about building cleaning. Guild representatives discuss procurement guidelines. At a panel discussion at 12:30 p.m., Wolfgang Molitor will talk to a representative of the Federal Employment Agency and an entrepreneur from Berlin about prospects after the Jobturbo programme. The German Social Accident Insurance Institution for the Construction Sector (BG BAU) for the construction industry and the Consulting Company for Occupational Safety and Health (BfGA Berlin) will present their support services. An example from Hamburg shows how a school can be cleaned during the day while it is still in operation.
On Friday, the CMS Practice Forum will focus on housekeeping and hospital cleaning. From 10 a.m., all interested parties are invited to a networking breakfast and welcome address by Mareike Reis (owner of the Housekeeping Academy), Christian Peter (managing director of the Hotel Competence Centre) and Bernise Riviere (founder and chairwoman of SapoCycle Germany, an association that promotes the recycling of hotel soaps). This will be followed at 10:45 a.m. by a panel discussion that takes a critical look at the opportunities offered by robotics. At 1:30 p.m., Frank Müller, Chairman of the of the Federal Association for Hygiene and Hospital Cleaning and Managing Director of Bogdol Gebäudemanagement, and Andreas Mock, Lead Customer Success Management at Soobr, will focus on the future of hospital cleaning between innovations and DIN standards. CMS Berlin is offering themed tours of the trade fair on Friday on both housekeeping and hospital cleaning and care.
The Purus Innovation Award (PIA) will be presented this evening
Entries range from battery-powered scrubber-dryers and autonomous toilet cleaning robots to innovative bin bags and more sustainable cleaning products, as well as AI-supported assistance systems. These entries demonstrate the tremendous innovative strength of the cleaning industry. In spring, 63 companies responded to the call for entries and applied for this highly regarded prize. Eighteen of them made it to the final round, which concludes tonight.
The jury nominated three companies in each of the six competition categories. As well as the usual categories of cleaning machines, equipment, washroom hygiene, digital tools and systems, and cleaning agents, this year's competition included a new category: robotics/AI. CMS exhibitors submitted a particularly large number of entries in this category, highlighting the increasing importance of smart technologies in professional cleaning.
The eight-member jury of industry experts evaluated the submitted products, tools and systems based on their potential for innovation in everyday use and the maturity of the overall concept. “The diversity of the submissions reflects the breadth of the industry and clearly shows how committed people are to developing practical solutions,” said jury chair Tanja Čujić. She is a board member of the Federal Guild Association of Building Cleaners and a managing partner at Čujić Gebäudedienste GmbH.
The six winners will be announced today at 5:30 p.m. at the CMS opening evening at Marshall Haus in front of around 280 invited guests. Following a welcome address from Mario Tobias, CEO of Messe Berlin, Thomas Dietrich (Chairman of the Federal Guild Association of the Building Cleaning Trade), Frank Ulbricht (Chairman of the Cleaning Systems Association of the German Engineering Federation) and Markus Häfner (Chairman of the Industrial Association for Hygiene and Surface Protection for Industrial and Institutional Applications) will discuss industry trends and topics.
Visitors to the trade fair will have the opportunity to meet the 18 PIA finalists on themed innovation tours. These guided tours offer exclusive insights into the nominated innovations and their potential applications.
